Will tree-ssa be GCC 3.5?

Agreed!

Hell, I would claim that any kind of modern optimization techniques are
totally unsuitable for either unstructured trees or RTL.  For GCC to move
forward and continue to be relevant in the long term against competitors
such as ICC a new optimization framework is absolutely necessary.  tree-ssa
is meant to provide that framework.
