Will tree-ssa be GCC 3.5?

I still think that's the wrong question. The issue is not "when under 
the current circumstances" will tree-ssa go mainline, but rather when it 
will go mainline if the National labs supports the product.

By way of comparison, Ada Core Technologies has recently made a 
preliminary proposal for compiler work that may indeed require tree-ssa 
capabilities. If this goes ahead, then one of the things we have to do 
is to take responsibility for making sure this happens.

In the case of tree-ssa, there are indeed a number of commercial 
interests that converge to make it desirable for this facility to be 
mainlined, but it is funded projects that help define and guarantee a 
schedule for any such development.

If there is a big infusion of resources into the G95 project, then it 
will completely change the picture. It is this changed picture that the 
National Labs should evaluate, not the current situation.
