help on left-shift

Hi all,

Our cpu's new insns will handle logic left-shift and arithmatic left-shift
in differents way (a<<b, b can be negative), how could I treat the logic/
arithmatic left shift differently? It seems gcc always treat all left-shifts 
the same.
