GCC error

[Don Geddes]

I have a MDK 9.0 setup on an AMD 1.8 processor as a dual boot sys with 
WinXP.
Kernel 2.4.19-16mdk
When I try to install GCC-3.2.2 with "./configure" I get the following 
error script:
Configuring for a i686-pc-linux-gnuoldld host.
Created "Makefile" in /usr/local/gcc-3.2.2. using "mt-frag".
./configure : line 7: cc: command not found
*** The command 'cc -o conftest -g conftest.c' failed.
*** You must set the environment variable CC to a working compiler.

If someone could tell me how to fix this I would greatly appreciate it.
