Gcc linker problem

Hi! 
Our C++ project compiled and worked well under gcc version 3.0. 
This week we upgraded the gcc to version 3.2 by removing old package and installing the new one. 
Also we ran crle to inroduce "." as a valid path. 

We have a long makefile which should work fine, except for one problem: 
Running g++ linker with "-Wl,-rpath,." options we encountered error message "ld: fatal: file .:unknown file type ". 

Please advise us on the problem and how it can be solved.
