GCC 3.2 Branch Closure

5351/7591 does not occur in the mainline -- I just retested with
gcc (GCC) 3.3 20021105 (experimental) and it doesn't happen there.
So I think that HJ should apply the patch only to the branch.

Now that HJ has checked in the patch, I will close 5351 (7591 was already
closed as a duplicate).

By the way, what is the status of 8146 for the trunk?  Is it resolved?
