Well let me see if I understand. What you mean by compatibility here is
that the later version of GNAT must be compilable using all the versions
of the C compiler that happened to compile the earlier version. This is
an untestable condition, and I still don't see your insistence on the
value of this.
We are talking about how to do the initial bootstrap here. once bootstrapped
the problem disappears, so why would it be so important to you to do the
bootstrap using untested unrecommded combinations of compilers?
