The merge simply brings the trees into synchronization. It may have broken
compatibility with 3.13, but that to me is simply not a criterion, or even
a very significant desirable feature at this stage. It is also possible
that it did NOT break 3.13 compilability. We would not know, we only are
compiling with 3.14.
