Sorry for the long timegap. I have been on travel for much
of the past month and have a BIG pile of backlog pending.
I can confirm that 3589 can be closed relative to the 3.1
branch. I made the report initially against 3.0 and it
might still apply there but it is fixed in current sources.
I am closing it.
I have a build log for avr-elf for the official 3.1 tarball
on May 16 and this problem was still there. SO I can't close it.
If someone has bootstrapped the CVS branch since then, it
can be closed. I will try to check it out and try things
in the next few days.
