[tree-ssa-branch] Merged SIMPLE and tree-ssa from ast-optimizer-branch

I have finished merging the SIMPLE and tree SSA code from the
ast-optimizer-branch into the new tree-ssa-20020619-branch.  I
will be updating the tree SSA web pages shortly.

Folks working on SIMPLE and tree SSA, please start using the new
branch tree-ssa-20020619-branch for further development.

I have tagged the merge point in the ast-optimizer-branch with
tree-ssa-ast-optimizer-merge-20020619.  Despite the name, the
merge includes everything committed to the ast-optimizer-branch
until Jun20.
