gcc 3.1 + gdb 5.2 not working in Cygwin

Hi there,

We've been pulling our hair out trying to get gdb running and working for
any debug executables created by gcc 3.1 or up.  I've read lots of posts
about gcc using dwarf2 now, and gdb from v5.2 is meant to support it, but
almost any executable from a simple Hello World crashes whilst single
stepping (even if you are lucky to get that far).

Are other people experiencing the same kind of problems?  I tried
configuring with --with-dwarf2 but that causes gcc to create executables
that aren't recognizable as executables by the system.

Any help or advice much appreciated.
