XFree86 4.2.0 vs gcc 3.1.1 on ppc

   In case anyone else has been having problems with a XFree86 4.2.0
built with gcc 3.1.1, on debian ppc sid I have pinned down the problem.
On this platform, we see a failure of the GL xserver extension to load
when built with gcc 3.1.1. The error is...

It turns out this problem is due to debian stripping the libGLcore.a
xserver extension with 'strip --strip-debug'. Apparently this was
tolerated under a gcc 2.95.4 built XFree86 4.2.0 but not a gcc 3.1.1
built one. I noticed that on debian they are explicitly avoiding
stripping the xserver extensions on alpha so this sort of problem
appears to have been pre-existing but is now more wide-spread under
gcc 3.1.1. Also, so far libGLcore.a appears to be the only xserver
extension that is broken by stripping in this manner.
