hacks?

They have, fer instance, PFE, which gives them precompiled headers.

I can confirm that, when used, it compiles at least twice as fast.

It's not a hack, i've looked at the code before.

I'm sure if Geoff Keating looked at it, he'd tell you the way it's 
implemented is the reason gengtype was invented.
