Buffer overrun while doing tests like format/c90-printf-1.c on linux?

Hi Joern,

My testsuite results are far from clean (and indeed there have been
several regressions since 3.1 was released). Perhaps you meant some
specific test.  In any event, I don't really do anything special other
than "make -k check".

First, I use a cron script to CVS update, build and test, using fairly
aggressive optimization flags.  I use a slackware-8.0 linux box, with
various upgrades (e.g., libc-2.2.5, expect version 5.32.1,
libtcl8.3.so), and use gcc-2.95.3 as the 1st stage compiler.
