Mailing list shuffle?

That doesn't mean we should give in to their laziness.

I tend to be a bit of a hardnose about people not reading the manual.
Among other things, if they don't get into the habit of reading the
instructions (for whatever piece of software they're using), then they're
going to fail as programmers anyway.  The sooner they learn that, the
easier their lives will be.


As far as renaming mailing lists goes, I think it would be a good idea,
but I would have

    gcc-help         the newbie users
    gcc-internals    the present gcc list

and not have a plain 'gcc' list at all.  The address still has to work,
of course, but it can be a simple autoresponder that points people to
http://gcc.gnu.org/lists.html with the admonition that they're probably
looking for the -help list.
