Yah, it's kind of annoying, but the convention was adopted before I could
put a stop to it.

I am planning on making a sweep that explicitly names the object format
in all the targets, and then adds "netbsd*" aliases to the appropriate
default.  At some point, the aliases will all point to the "netbsdelf*"
variant.
