oh, yes please. I've a very fragile (cos I'm lazy) script which DTRT
so I can run the the compiler more than just cc1{,plus}, binning that
would be good.

This wouldn't support
configure --prefix=/usr/local/egcs
--exec-prefix=/usr/local/egcs/sparc-sun-solaris2.8
to give a non-hypothetical example. I guess --exec-prefix has outlived
its usefulness in these days of stonking great disks. And, as it happens
Rob, like any sane sysadmin, automounts /usr/local from different physical
disks, depending on the OS in use, making exec-prefix redundant.
