libstdc++ libtool lossage

End user error, sysadmin error; I'm not interested in differentiating
the two.  They're both "users" as far as I'm concerned.

I wouldn't call it a bug.  I'd call it an installation mistake.

In any case, we _do_ now default to --enable-shared, correct?
So the user has to go out of their way to make g++ -shared break.
At which point I'm completely uninterested in "solving" this
"problem".
