I have installed Red Hat 7.1 and am attempting to upgrade my installation of gcc from
2.96.85 to 3.0.3. I upgraded the cpp, gcc, gcc-c++, gcc-objc, gcc-g77, and libgcc packages
and installed the compat-glibc on a suggestion from Red Hat tech support. However, when
trying to compile and install a particular software package, I get the following error:
gcc: /lib/i686/libc.so.6: version `GCC_3.0' not found (required by gcc)
I tried to get Red Hat tech support to help me but they told me to write to this address.
Do you have any suggestions?
David Evans
