C++ compile and execution times

...I believe you are reacting too strongly (and demand a bit much).

It is a well-known problem that GCC (especially G++) has been getting
slower and slower, and there are PRs for that with clearly reproducible
data.

Considering the age of PR 3083 (which still applies) and its followup,
PR 8361, I can understand Marc's frustration all too well.

Marc, it would be very useful to have further self-contained and
reproducible testcases, so if you have any, please file a PR with
all details (including compilation with -ftime-report, if possible).
