Using gcc 3.2.1 with glibc 2.3.1, binutils 2.13.1

Hi,

I've had some people suggest that I use the latest glibc and binutils to get
better performance from gcc 3.2.1-generated code. I'm running glibc 2.2.5
and binutils 2.12 at the moment.

Updating binutils isn't much of a problem; I'll compile the latest version
here in a bit. What I'm more curious about is glibc 2.3.1. I don't really
want to destabilize my system at the moment, so I'm a tad wary of 2.3.1
(even if it does claim binary compatibility).

Has anyone had troubles with glibc 2.3.1 and gcc 3.2.1?

And does it make a significant difference in performance, or is it (as
appears from the ChangeLog) mostly minor fixes and additions?

Note: This *is* a gcc question, given that the performance of gcc-generated
code is dependent on the quality of libraries.
