    Like many great ideas, using the term GNU/Linux is accurate, honest, and
    probably a downright Good Idea.

    But it's not going to happen.

It has already happened to some extent--many people do use the term
GNU/Linux.  By educating people, we can increase the number, and each
one who starts using this term helps explain to the public what the
GNU Project is and was about.  Whether or not we ever teach 50% of the
public, it is still useful to teach whom we can.

    Words get meaning by how people use them, right or wrong. It may be galling,
    it may be wrong, it may be a lot of things -- but scowling about it (as RMS
    does) sounds petulant.

The way I normally ask isn't scowling, but if some people think it is,
I don't mind.  They are probably predisposed to be unfriendly, so we
haven't lost much.

Anyway, nobody will think you are scowling simply because you use the
term "GNU/Linux".

    Freedom means the right to be "wrong" about the names for things.

Wouldn't you rather get it right?
