GCC Development

Ahoy!

Recently I installed Linux on my machine (three days ago!).  I am running 
the latest version of Red Hat.  During installation, I clicked on the 
"Development" programs button.  I thought that I would have Perl / C++ / C 
compilers installed with the "Development" tab.  Can you help me verify 
this?  Also...where would I find/run these files???

I'm lost, confused, and needing to program.
