df.c and partial writes/REG_EQUAL notes

	If the feedback was a philisophical argument that should have been
addressed by the GCC Steering Committee, then this issue should have been
escalated to the GCC SC long before it got out of control on the patches
and general mailinglist.  The current discussion is not productive.

	The Steering Committee has been working on a way to improve the
patch review and tracking process.  Hopefully that will allow some
frustrated and disaffected developers to return.  We need more specific
information about requirements for the content of patches and the content
of reviews.

	It would be a shame for others to have to replicate Daniel's work
when he already has a complete re-write of bitmap usage implemented as
requested by RTH.
