help, a problem of gcc.

Hai, gcc team,

I am a user of gcc. Now I have a problem need your help.
When I compile .c source code under sun sparc of the os solaris8(64bit), it gives me a prompt as "gcc: installation problem, cannot exec `as': No such file or directory". I don't know what's wrong of it. I have try servel versions of solaris8, but the problem still has. So what shall I do? I'm anxious to need your help. I wish you could help me solve the problem as soon as possible.
