3.0.1 as a critical bug fix release including a new platform?

I don't remember the specific NetBSD/PowerPC fixes in question.  If
they touched code that might have affected other systems, that might
have been a good reason to reject them.  The S/390 stuff was done in
such a way that it needed no changes to any existing code.

However, it would be excellent to have better platform support in 3.0.2.
I hope you will resubmit your patches for inclusion in 3.0.2, due out
October 15th.
