Bootstrap comparison failure on i686-linux

Weird, I thought I explicitly zeroed the fields that needed to be
reset.  I'll think through this again.  Unfortunately, I cannot get a
bootstrap to fail (i686-pc-linux-gnu) or a new regression to appear...
