Profiling with -pg and gprof AND multiple processes

Hi,

I'm wondering if it is possible to rename gmon.out to a process-specific file.
I need this, because I start several processes having the same working directory, but would like to see profiling statistics for every process. Without renaming the process that quits as last overwrites information of the one that has stopped before. :-(

Are there some other free available profiling tools?

Any comment is appreciated.
