FYI, there's a newer binutils that was just installed into Debian
unstable (I did the upload last night).  Try that and if it doesn't work,
we'll proceed.  That version of binutils was released by HJL prior to the
official release, so it's possible that the bug fix in question wasn't
enabled at that time (I haven't tracked this thread, so I'm a bit in the
dark).

If it still doesn't work, please file a bug in the Debian BTS against
binutils.  I'll pass it on if needed (could be my error).
