Hi Brad,

These warnings are new in the sense that I activated some of the
existing -Wconversion warnings when using -Wtraditional.  I'd like to
try and help solve any spurious cases you're seeing on the alpha.

Would you please look and see if there is a common thread to all of
them or not?  That'll help determine how to attack the problem.
