The number of concurrent FTP users on sources.redhat.com has been reduced
from 30 to 5, presumably for better CVS performance.

Given that, could the snapshot files be pushed onto a friendly mirror
and or could the files comprising the snapshot be pruned somewhat
- say down to
gcc-20010409-CVS.tar.bz2	# Checkout of CVS tree for the snapshot branch
gcc-20010402-20010409-CVS.diff.bz2

(from the gdb/snapshot directory)
250-
250-*-CVS-*.tar.bz2 Checkout of the CVS tree (made weekly)
250- may be faster than `cvs -z9 co ...`
250-

rather than the current

This assumes that the component tar files aren't heavily requested and
that the above would reduce the mirror and total download load.
