restrict in gcc 2.95.1

Dear Mr. Gavin Koch,

In gcc 2.95.1 info files, I've read that gcc now supports
the "restrict" keyword in pointer declarations.

1. Does gcc really provide optimizations related to  restricted
   pointers or it only provides just formal support for the new
   keyword?

2. Does RTL representation of a program contain information about
   memory accesses via restricted pointers?
