INT size is 24

Hi,
 I am new to gcc. I am trying to understand gcc.
I have few doubts . If one of you could answer I am
greatful to you.

 1) Can I have INT_TYPE_SIZE as 24 bits in gcc.
 where BITS_PER_WORD is also 24.
  and the other types like float,double and long
are 32 bits.

2) If so, in which mode should I access it.
  (SImode , PSImode  )

3) Can I change the machine mode sizes in gcc.

 (SImode,PSImode etc in machmode.def)
