Optimization via Preprocessor?

Hi,

	I'm in a situation where I'll need to specify the optimization
command line arguments directly in the code. Is this possible at all? A
through reading of the man pages seems to provide no answers, as does the
online documentation.

	The equivalent of the -O2 via any mechanism in the code such that
a make <filename> will produce the optimized executable.
