Status of texinfo removal?

What's the status of the removal of the texinfo directory from GCC?
AFAICT the status in August was that only small and shortly to be
forthcoming configure/makefile changes were needed so that prebuilt info
files could be installed, but nothing seems to have happened since then,
and I'd like to see the texinfo directory go to get rid of five more
non-historical EGCS references therein.
