Host-only port for Mac OS X?

We're seeing a number of users trying to configure/make cross
compilers using the current GCC sources on the public beta release
of Mac OS X, but they lose for lack of the basic bits for host support,
plus a couple tweaks that are unique to OS X.
I had been hoping to have the full native port submitted by now, but
it's pretty complicated weirdness and currently chokes in stage 2 of
bootstrapping. So as an interim thing, I was considering contributing
just the hosting bits. I know we don't favor including half-ports,
but this would be a good way to increase interest in using mainstream
GCC on OS X instead of Apple's version, and also gets me out of sending
patch kits to everybody. :-)
If people think this is a reasonable idea, I'll send in the
appropriate patches.
