can't execute g++ binary

I've got some source code that compiles and runs in Visual C++.  I can
get the same code to compile in Linux with egcs-1.1.2, but I can't get it
to execute properly.  I know this is rather vague, but what could 
potentially cause this other than poorly written code?  The reason I know
it's not executing properly with Linux is because the output that is
there with the VC++ binary is not with the Linux binary.  Thanks for 
any insight.
