Build problems; Please help

This error is occuriung because you do not have gas for the ARM
built.  So the output of gcc is being assembled by the host system's
assembler, which of course does not understand ARM opcodes.

Check to see that gas/as-new has been built in your build directory
and that gcc/as is a symbolic link to this executable.  If either of
these tests fail, then try running 'make clean-gas all-gas' at the top
level before continuing with your build of gcc.


: Why is it building the multilib: even when I pass the option
: --disable-multilib to configure.

This is because the configure option that you want is:

     --enable-multilib=no
