I see some discussion then about -ffloat-store, which is being used,
and some in early 1999 about its failing again.  rth created
980619-1.x on 1999/03/17.  It has been XPASSing since mid-December
according to the testsuite logs, and a good deal of work went into
i386.md around that time.  However I don't see anything that obviously
would have fixed the bug.
