gcc support for Pentium 4?

What's the status of gcc optimization support for the Pentium 4 processor?

I realize that these are brand-spanking new, but recent publications
indicate that code specifically compiled for the P4 runs significantly
faster (using Intel's tools of course). Are folks from Intel, Red Hat, or
IBM working on this?

I've searched Deja news and the mailing list archives for this information
to no avail.
