Yes, if your compiler is configured with WCHAR_TYPE and
WCHAR_TYPE_SIZE correctly.  For Unicode, the setting
probably should be
 #define WCHAR_TYPE "short unsigned int"
 #define WCHAR_TYPE_SIZE 16

Our version of gcc sets WCHAR_TYPE_SIZE to 8 bits
and WCHAR_TYPE to "char" for a couple of targets!
