egcs and Linux kernels

Correct.

And "gcc-2.7.2".  There's nothing magical about gcc-2.7.2 that prevents it
losing due to the incorrect asms.

My SMP box is running 2.2.1 built by egcs-1.1.2-pre3 and my laptop is running
2.1.1 built by egcs-1.1.2-pre2 :-)
