G77 and KIND=2

I can compile code with INTEGER(KIND=2) [or integer*8]
and REAL(KIND=2) [or real*8] on a DEC Alpha (Linux 2.0.34;
egcs 1.1.1) but I can't get the double precssion or long
integer results to print.  Likewise, I cannot input a long integer value .

Are double precision and long integers turned on or not?
  If not, is it scheduled to be turned on anytime soon?
  If they are on, can anyone give me a successful example?
