It's not significantly different from on a Sun. This is RedHat 5.2
GNU/Linux, not that that should be relevant:

$ cat >a.f
       print *, 'hello, world'
       end
$ g77 a.f
$ ls -l a.out
-rwxr-xr-x   1 fx       dlamoluv   154877 Jun 17 21:00 a.out
$ ./a.out
 hello, world
$
