-fexternal-templates

Hi,
I'm using gcc-2.95.2 and am having a problem with -fexternal-templates.

My code is a fairly large chunk of C++ and the binary size is getting
somewhat larger than I was expecting; I thus started wondering if I should
use the #pragma implementation/interface mechanisms to slim it down a bit.

As directed by the documentation I used -fexternal-templates and got an
error stating that -fexternal-templates was deprecated and to go look at
the coumentation!

What is the current advice on this?

Dave
