To clarify: egcs and the FSF gcc have re-merged.  The former egcs
compiler has been released as GCC version 2.95, and all subsequent
GCC releases will come from the egcs source tree.

That is, you do not need to pay a fee or sign a license agreement.

To clarify: there are no known Y2k problems in gcc, and a number of
developers have been hunting for such problems.  However, since gcc is
free software, there is no warranty or promise on this issue.
Unofficially, you are pretty safe.  If for business reasons you need
some kind of certification or warranty, then I second Jeff's suggestion
that you look into a support agreement.
