a few quick questions (-fPIC vs -fpic)

   a small (and not the last) follow-up on the -fPIC vs -fpic question ---

   While our sysadmin is struggling with g++ setup on Solaris,
   I tried -pic and -PIC with SunCC. To my surprise, -PIC
   ran ~4% faster than -pic (on top of -fast -O5). 

   I will post g++ -fpic/-fPIC results and other comparisons
   against CC when our g++ setup becomes operational.
