It's being worked on, but it's convenient to have the 4.17.x patch
releases in the meantime.  It would be more useful to get patches
relative to 4.18 patches though - GDB is going through some major
evolution, and moving patches forward is going to get harder and
harder.  But, it's free software, and if HJ wants to patch up old
versions of GDB instead of improving the current version, nobody can
stop him.
