Errors during cross compile

I could be wrong but I don't think EGCS 1.1 supports Linux/MIPS without 
additional patches.  It's somewhat confusing that the configure script will 
accept a target name of `mips-linux' and do plausible looking things, but you 
won't actually end up with the right stuff getting built.
