Possible 1.2 item: multi-libbed libg2c.a

Hi Jeff.  Just want to put it "on the record" that I think it's
worth strongly considering putting multi-libbed libg2c.a into
1.2.  As you might remember, this work has been done on the mainline
already, though there might still be one or two things to clean up
in it.

I don't recall seeing any "final list" of 1.2 items, which is okay
since it seems like a month or two away at least, but if it ends
up being, as you proposed, a release to just cope with a new
library interface (for libstdc++ or something?), it seems like
multi-libbing libg2c.a would fit in quite well.

However, if the scope of 1.2 changes substantially, e.g. if, instead
of being about switching library stuff, it turns out we have to fix
bug code-generation stuff in it, then perhaps multi-libbing libg2c.a
would make less sense, requiring us to feel the work is *very* stable
to consider including it nevertheless.

No particular action item here, but if anyone has strong opinions,
I thought this email would give them an opportunity to chime in
early.

Also, people who understand the issues better than I might want
to consider whether options like `-pg' should be put in the set
of multi-lib options for most/all targets.  I don't know the
answer to this.
